Intro to Straw Bale Gardening with Master Gardener Ed Hill
WHEN: SATURDAY, MARCH 14
Waterfront Botanical Gardens’ Master Gardener Ed Hill will share the basics of straw bale gardening, a method of growing plants in straw bales that act as both the container and the growing medium, eliminating the need for soil. This technique is ideal for those with poor soil or limited space, and the bales can be placed in any sunny location.
Free Electronics Recycling
WHEN: THURSDAY, MARCH 19
The Chamber St. Matthews, Greenway Shredding & Recycling, and Z-JAK Technologies have partnered to host a free electronics recycling event open to the entire Louisville community. Both businesses and residents can safely and responsibly dispose of old, outdated, or damaged electronic devices, including computers, laptops, iPads, cell phones, monitors, and other approved electronics.

Step into a hidden chapter of Kentucky history and meet the Black artisans—both free and enslaved—who fought for the Union during the Civil War. This exhibition invites you to reflect on how their craftsmanship, courage, and patriotic determination helped shape Kentucky and the nation.
